Kathy is a graduate of EMU and of Temple University. She has taught mostly ESL (or EFL) at EMU, at Ohio State University, at King Saud Univ. and other schools in Saudi Arabia, and at the University of the UAE. After working at JMU for a number of years, she now teaches full time in the Intensive English Program at EMU. After living abroad for so many years, she also believes that the Shenandoah Valley may be one of the best places to live in the world.
She thanks her husband, Al Keim (no longer living) for bringing her here.
My focus in teaching English as a second language is to provide students from other countries with a necessary tool for succeeding in academic studies in the United States. Just as important, I believe, is providing a safe and comfortable place where honest communication between people of different backgrounds and worldviews can happen.
